Der Prophet Elia war ein Prophet, dessen Stammbaum nicht überliefert ist, ohne Titel und ohne irdische Absicherung. Nur eines trug ihn: die lebendige Gegenwart des HERRN. Und nur ein Zeugnis trieb ihn: der Mut, stehen zu bleiben, wenn andere weichen, und die Bereitschaft, Gottes Wort höher zu achten als das eigene Leben.
Der Prophet Elia stand allein vor König Ahab, der ihn töten konnte. Und er sprach. Er stand allein auf dem Berg Karmel, als vierhundertfünfzig Baalspropheten gegen ihn antraten. Und er betete. Er lag allein unter einem Wacholderbaum, wollte sterben. Und der HERR speiste ihn. Er floh bis an die Grenze seiner Kraft und entdeckte, dass der HERR nicht nur im Feuer antwortet, sondern auch in der stillen, heiligen Nähe. Am Ende öffnete sich der Himmel, und ein feuriger Wagen nahm ihn hinweg.
Aber eine Frage bleibt: Warum erscheint dieser Mann, Jahrhunderte nach seiner Entrückung, neben dem Sohn Gottes auf dem Berg der Verklärung? Was sah der Prophet Elia, das die Welt bis heute nicht fassen will?
Dieses Buch folgt dem Propheten durch Dürre und Feuer, durch Einsamkeit und heilige Stille, durch Gericht und Wiederherstellung, bis zu jenem Augenblick auf dem Berg, der alles in ein neues Licht rückt. Es verbindet historische Tiefe mit seelsorgerlicher Wärme und zeigt: die Geschichte des Propheten Elia ist keine Geschichte der Vergangenheit.
Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei nicht bloß die historische Gestalt des Propheten, sondern das weise und treue Handeln Gottes, die Treue Seines Wortes und der Hinweis auf den Sohn Gottes.

The prophet Elijah was a prophet whose lineage is not recorded, a man without title and without earthly security. Only one thing carried him: the living presence of the LORD. And only one testimony drove him: the courage to remain standing when others gave way, and the readiness to hold God's word higher than his own life.
The prophet Elijah stood alone before King Ahab, who could have killed him. And he spoke. He stood alone on Mount Carmel when four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal rose against him. And he prayed. He lay alone beneath a juniper tree, longing to die. And the LORD fed him. He fled to the very edge of his strength and discovered that the LORD answers not only in the fire, but also in the still, holy nearness. In the end the heavens opened, and a chariot of fire bore him away.
But a question remains: Why does this man appear, centuries after his translation, beside the Son of God on the Mount of Transfiguration? What did the prophet Elijah see, that the world even now does not wish to grasp?
This book follows the prophet through drought and fire, through solitude and holy silence, through judgement and restoration, until that moment on the mountain which casts everything into new light. It weaves historical depth with pastoral warmth and shows: the story of the prophet Elijah is not a story of the past.

The book is conceived as a deliberately guided journey: from the historical life of the prophet Elijah to the encounter with the Son of God, Jesus Christ.
Part I: The Life of the Prophet Elijah
The first part of the book follows the prophet Elijah through Israel's apostasy under King Ahab and Queen Jezebel — from drought through the brook Cherith and the city of Zarephath to the judgement of God on Mount Carmel, onward to Mount Horeb, to calling and testimony, and finally to ascension.
Part II: The Encounter with the Son of God, Jesus Christ
The second part of the book leads from promise and the elect to Moses and the prophet Elijah on the Mount of Transfiguration and to that final look in which the prophet's witness points with particular clarity to the Son of God — as the work is quietly led towards its spiritual high point.
